Where does self confidence come from? How will we get it? Should I have it? The solution to all these questions can be solved with one word you! Self confidence starts with you, your perception of yourself, and what other people think about your actions or behavior.

For some of us, an absence of self confidence only has an effect on our high ambitions. You could have always needed to get up on stage, or to be a pro vocalist or actor for instance. Perhaps your life dream is to travel the world, visit different nations or towns, but you do not have the self confidence to do it. For others, the difficulty of self confidence is much closer to home - in the office, business meetings, public presenting events or presentations.

Self confidence issues affect many of us at one point, and we can typically find ways of getting round the problem. Avoidance is one strategy we frequently use - if we are able to get out of a menacing situation we will make up excuses not to take part. Nevertheless there are occasions when we won't get out of it, or we do not really want to. If a lack of self confidence is excluding you from doing trying something new, or from succeeding in your working life, it is time to handle it.

The kick off point in improving your self confidence is understanding what causes the issue. Low self worth, not believing in yourself or your capability, feeling insufficient compared with your comrades or pals or perhaps a type of shock from your childhood are all contributory factors. By examining the explanations for your low self confidence, you are halfway there!

Taking positive action to overcome your fears is the very next step to help increase your self confidence. An easy way to do this is by taking on small challenges. You have authorized your brain to associate certain events or actions with fear, so you have already pre-empted the outcome of these scenarios. By taking a little step towards conquering this, you'll find the result's most probably not as bad as you suspect in reality you can likely be shocked about how good you feel and your self confidence will instantly increase.

When you've finished your first little challenge, congratulate yourself on achieving your target. A tiny reward can often help. You are already on the right trail to improving your self confidence, so you're ready to take it to a new level. This needn't be a massive task; you do not need to undo all the excellent work. Building up your self confidence requires time, and while you may wish to jump ahead, it can be good to take things slowly initially. Continuously increase the risks you take to get your self confidence to where you would like to be. Risk taking does not, of course, mean jumping off a bridge, but the accepted risk of something happening on account of your actions is generally the biggest barrier with self confidence.

Self confidence issues are common for most individuals, and there are fantastic resources to learn to cope with these issues, but if you do have grim difficulty facing certain circumstances you should seek pro help.
